September 2023-The Ultrasonic Rafts have been deployed for several months now in efforts of continued mitigation of the harmful algae existing in the lake. There has been significant improvement in the algae toxin levels due to the mitigation that was implemented mid-summer last year by Springfield Township and the Village of Lakemore. However, the levels as of this spring and summer's testing of cyanotoxin in the water have not dropped below the threshold for recreation waters set by the State of Ohio EPA. (testing results can be viewed on this site) Therefore, the RED advisory signs remain posted around the lake to alert of the potential hazard of contact with harmful algae toxins. The signs will remain in place until those levels fall and stay below the advisory threshold. Boating, fishing and other recreation on the lake will continue as it always has as "use at your own risk." There should just be awareness that the algae toxin levels are still above the state's threshold level. PLEASE AVOID THE ULTRASONIC RAFTS, several rafts on several occasions this season have incurred damage and shut them down. There is cost associated with repairs and cost associated with lack of continuous Algae sonification. Please be aware of the (4) rafts and their locations if you are out on the Lake.
